Steve and his crew at Elkin Contracting built a “tiny house” for me and my partner behind our home. When we first met with Steve to discuss the project, we had a few ideas on a scrap of paper. Steve was patient and attentive as he listened to our design ideas and guided us toward a project plan that was both feasible and affordable. Our project started out as a 140 SF tiny house for an office with a small loft for storage. It ended up being much more as the design progressed and Elkin Contracting realized that we could expand the design at minimum cost and effort and make it a much more useful and enjoyable space. I ended up with a loft area with enough clearance to stand up and stretch my arms skyward. This space now serves as my new yoga studio.
My partner Joe and I had found antique porch posts for the covered entryway and an antique door that needed a custom frame. Elkin gladly accommodated and made those items work. We had vintage single-paned wooden windows that we wanted to use and Elkin came up with a way to install them to improve the aesthetics of the space while still using double-pane windows where needed for comfort and energy conservation. We also wanted Elkin to use some old barn boards for either the siding or inside of the house. We ended up using it as “wainscoting” around the inside of the main floor room and it looks great. We also used it to frame the windows and below the loft area.
Elkin was willing to work with us to help us save money by giving us time to do some of the work (insulation and painting) ourselves. They stayed on schedule and within budget. They always showed up when they said they would unless the weather dictated otherwise. They built everything to code. When we had our tiny house inspected, the inspector was impressed at the sturdiness of the building and we passed without a problem. We love our tiny house and we enjoyed working with Steve and his crew!!

My husband and I purchased a home in Spanaway WA in mid July and the home inspection revealed we needed some siding replaced on the end of the home. Elkin Contracting did an excellent job fixing the siding and making it look like new. They also matched the house paint really well. I could not tell where they had made the repairs. While Steve and his crew where here I asked them to check out the rest of the home to see if there were any other issues. He did the inspection and lets us know there were some other issues that could become a problem later. He gave us a bid for how much it would cost to fix the other issues. Steve had Fitz come and fix the issues so our house looks brand new. Steve and his crew are very professional and answer all of your questions and return any and all phone calls in a timely manner. I would recommend Elkin Contracting for anybody’s home repair needs. This is who my husband and I would call if we need any other repairs completed.

The painter, Fitz, dilegently prepared all surfaces for painting while expertly masking those adjacent surfaces from overspray.
